Language Acquisition Interview with Professor Kim Plunkett

Professor Kim Plunkett

Professor Kim Plunkett, Tutorial Fellow in Psychology, Director of the Oxford BabyLab and Professor of Cognitive Science, was interviewed for the University’s multi-disciplinary ‘Research in Conversation’ discussions about human language acquisition.

In the interview, Kim discusses the work of the Oxford BabyLab and its history. In addition he talks about the genetic and physiological features of the human species that make us good at learning language, how babies learn to speak and why they are so much better at learning a new language than adults are, and the relationship between cognition and speech.
